Privacy, Data Management, and Troubleshooting
WebZone performs its documented code and text operations using browser-based JavaScript and supporting libraries. The application also includes a control for clearing locally accessible site data.
Browser-Based Processing
The supplied implementation processes text through JavaScript functions and browser-compatible libraries.
Supported operations include:
- Code minification and formatting
- HTML and CSS validation
- HTML and JavaScript security scanning
- JSON processing
- Base64 and URL encoding
- Regular expression matching
- Text comparison
- UUID generation
- Color conversion
- Text analysis
Some supporting libraries are loaded through external content delivery networks.
Privacy Considerations
Client-side processing can reduce the need to send entered text to a server for processing.
However, the supplied JavaScript alone does not establish the complete privacy behavior of the deployed application.
Other resources, hosting infrastructure, analytics, and browser activity may generate network requests.
Do not assume that all input is confidential without verifying the deployed application's full behavior.
Purge Data
WebZone provides a Purge data control to attempt removal of local application data.
Usage
- Locate Purge data.
- Click the button.
- Confirm the action.
- Allow the browser to complete the cleanup and reload.
Keyboard Shortcut
Ctrl + Alt + BackspaceThe shortcut triggers the same confirmation workflow.
Data Targeted by Purge
| Data Type | Action |
|---|---|
| Input fields | Clear values |
| Output viewers | Clear displayed content |
| Select controls | Reset selections |
| Clipboard | Attempt to replace text with an empty string |
| localStorage | Clear local storage |
| sessionStorage | Clear session storage |
| IndexedDB | Attempt to delete accessible databases |
| Cache Storage | Delete accessible caches |
| Service Workers | Attempt to unregister registrations |
| Cookies | Attempt to expire accessible cookies |
| Object URLs | Revoke tracked object URLs |
The purge operation then attempts to reset the tool selector and reload the application.
Limitations
The purge action cannot guarantee deletion of all browser or server-side information.
Important limitations include:
- HTTP-only cookies cannot be deleted directly by JavaScript.
- Browser permissions may prevent clipboard modification.
- IndexedDB deletion may be blocked by active connections.
- Downloaded files remain on the user's device.
- Browser history is not cleared.
- Server-side logs and data, if any, are not deleted.
- Information outside the current origin is not cleared.
The operation should be understood as a best-effort local cleanup mechanism.
Troubleshooting
JavaScript Minification Fails
Possible causes:
- Invalid JavaScript
- Unsupported syntax
- Terser failed to load
- A processing error occurred
Suggested actions:
- Check the input syntax.
- Reduce the input to a smaller test case.
- Reload the application.
- Verify that external scripts are not blocked.
HTML Minification Fails
The HTML minifier depends on its required JavaScript library being present.
If the library is unavailable, the tool may report that HTML minification could not run.
Verify that required resources load successfully.
CSS Minification Fails
Check that CSSO is available and that the supplied stylesheet is valid.
If optional keyframe purging produces unexpected results, disable it and try again.
Beautification Fails
Check the input syntax and confirm that Prettier and its required parser plugins have loaded.
Validation Reports Unexpected Issues
HTML and CSS validation depends on configured rules and library definitions.
Some newer or nonstandard constructs may not be recognized.
Review the reported rule before changing valid application code.
Security Scan Produces Many Findings
The scanner performs heuristic pattern detection.
Some findings may be false positives or context-dependent.
Review each finding individually and verify whether the reported pattern introduces an actual risk.
JSON Operations Fail
Confirm that the input is valid JSON.
Common problems include:
- Trailing commas
- Unquoted property names
- Single-quoted strings
- Comments
- Incomplete objects or arrays
URL Decoding Fails
The decoder requires valid percent-encoded input.
Malformed escape sequences can cause an error.
Base64 Decoding Fails
Confirm that the input contains valid Base64 text and represents valid UTF-8.
Regular Expressions Are Slow
Certain patterns can require substantial processing time.
Simplify complex patterns or reduce the sample text.
Diff Processing Is Slow
Large text comparisons may consume significant CPU and memory.
Try smaller inputs or line-based comparison where appropriate.
Copying Results Fails
Clipboard access may be restricted by browser permissions or security settings.
Use the Download action when available.
UUID Format Is Unexpected
The supplied UUID functions contain a formatting issue that appears to remove the first hexadecimal character.
Check the generated output format before integrating UUIDs into other applications.
Responsible Usage
WebZone is a collection of development and inspection utilities.
For production workflows:
- Validate input before processing.
- Review generated output.
- Test optimized code.
- Treat security findings as preliminary.
- Verify privacy requirements before entering confidential material.
- Keep independent backups of important files.
Support and Feedback
When reporting a problem, include the name of the affected tool, browser information, the selected options, and a reproducible example that does not contain private or sensitive information.
