Developer Utilities

WebZone includes utilities for UUID generation, color conversion, and text analysis.

UUID Generator

The UUID tool provides two generation modes.

VersionDescription
UUID v4Random-based identifier
UUID v7Timestamp-based identifier with random data

Usage

  1. Select the UUID tool.
  2. Click UUID v4 or UUID v7.
  3. Review the generated value.
  4. Copy or download the result.

UUID v4

UUID version 4 uses random data to generate an identifier.

Example of the standard UUID v4 format:

f47ac10b-58cc-4372-a567-0e02b2c3d479

UUID v7

UUID version 7 includes a timestamp component, making it useful for time-ordered identifiers.

Example of the standard UUID v7 format:

0199abcd-1234-7def-8123-456789abcdef

The examples illustrate UUID formats rather than actual generated values.

Implementation

WebZone uses crypto.getRandomValues() to generate random bytes.

UUID v7 additionally incorporates the current timestamp in milliseconds.

Implementation note: The supplied UUID functions contain an extra .slice(1) after formatting the identifier string. This appears to remove the first hexadecimal character from the generated UUID. Until corrected, generated identifiers should be checked for the standard 36-character UUID format before use.

Color Conversion

The Color Converter translates values between HEX, RGB, and HSL representations.

Supported Formats

FormatExample
HEX#1f2937
RGBrgb(31, 41, 55)
HSLhsl(215 24% 17%)

The sample HSL value is an approximate equivalent of the HEX and RGB examples.

Usage

  1. Select Color.
  2. Enter a color value in one of the fields.
  3. Click the corresponding conversion button.
  4. Review the converted values and preview swatch.

HEX Input

WebZone supports three-digit and six-digit HEX values.

Examples:

#fff
#ffffff
#1f2937

The leading # is optional for HEX parsing.

RGB Input

RGB input follows the format:

rgb(255, 100, 50)

Each component conventionally ranges from 0 to 255.

HSL Input

HSL input supports forms such as:

hsl(215 24% 17%)

or:

hsl(215, 24%, 17%)

Hue is conventionally expressed in degrees, while saturation and lightness are percentages.

Color Preview

The converter updates a visual swatch using the converted HEX color.

Limitations

The tool does not provide alpha-channel conversion through RGBA or HSLA.

RGB and HSL inputs are matched using numeric patterns; those checks do not fully enforce conventional component ranges.

Some conversions involve rounding.

Text Statistics

The Text Statistics tool analyzes plain text and produces several measurements.

Usage

  1. Select Text Statistics.
  2. Enter or paste text.
  3. Click Analyze.
  4. Review the statistics.

Available Measurements

StatisticDescription
Characters with spacesTotal JavaScript string length
Characters without spacesLength after removing whitespace
WordsNumber of whitespace-separated segments
LinesNumber of lines
SentencesNumber of punctuation-terminated text segments
ParagraphsNumber of nonempty sections separated by blank lines

Example

Input:

Hello, world!
Welcome to WebZone.

Expected results:

StatisticResult
Characters with spaces33
Characters without spaces29
Words5
Lines2
Sentences2
Paragraphs1

Counting Behavior

Characters

The implementation uses JavaScript string length.

Some Unicode characters are represented by multiple UTF-16 code units and may therefore count as more than one character.

Words

Words are identified through non-whitespace segments, not full linguistic analysis.

Sentences

Sentences are approximated using punctuation including periods, exclamation marks, and question marks.

A final sentence without terminating punctuation may not be counted.

Paragraphs

Paragraphs are separated by blank lines.

Common Uses

  • Generate development identifiers
  • Convert web design colors
  • Inspect text lengths and structure
  • Estimate content size
  • Analyze simple writing statistics

These utilities are designed for convenience and quick inspection.
